Kohlfeld Distributing was incorporated by Leo & Blanche Kohlfeld in 1968 serving the counties in Missouri of Cape Girardeau, Perry, Bollinger and parts of Stoddard and Scott.
In 1971, Kohlfeld Distributing, Inc. purchased Pucket Distributing and their distributorships in Sikeston and Kennett Missouri serving the counties of Scott, New Madrid, Mississippi, Pemiscot, Dunklin and Stoddard.
In 1974, KDI opened a new warehouse in Marston, MO.
In 1974, Stroh was introduced by KDI in their market.
In 1975, they opened their new facility in Jackson, MO.
In 1976, they purchased Locke Distributing and their brands Falstaff and Hamm's.
In 1977, KDI introduced Olympia Brands in their market.
In 1982, they purchased Coors of the Ozark and Coors of Cape Girardeau county.
In 1984, Kohlfeld Beverage was incorporated as a subsidiary of KDI to handle non-alcoholic brands.
In 1990, they purchased Donze Distributing, the Stag Distributor in Ste. Genevieve County.
In 1991, Kohlfeld Companies (KDI & KB) were purchased by Mike and Mark Kohlfeld.
In 1994, KDI acquired the Boston Beer Company's portfolio of brands.
In 1999, Ozark Beverage of Poplar Bluff was purchased by KDI servicing the counties of Butler, Wayne, Reynolds, Carter, Ripley and Iron.
In 2000, KDI acquired the Smirnoff portfolio of brands.
In 2001, KDI purchased Paul Distributing and its service area of St. Francois, Washington and portions of Jefferson counties.
In 2001, KDI acquired the Mike's Hard Lemonade portfolio.
In 2006, Kohlfeld entered into a partnership agreement with the Dr. Pepper/Snapple group to serve Madison, Iron and Ste Genevieve counties.
In 2009, Kohlfeld Companies increased their partnership interest with DPSG to service the counties of Mississippi, New Madrid, Dunklin, Pemiscot, Wayne, Butler, Ripley, Carter and Reynolds.
In 2013, KDI purchased the New Belgium portfolio from Major Brands.
In 2014, KDI purchased the brand portfolios of Bell's Brewing Company, Odell Brewing Company, Hornsby, Sierra Nevada, Magners and Anchor Steam from Glazer's Distributing.
In 2015, Courtland Kohlfeld, sales manager, became an equity partner joining his uncle Mark Kohlfeld, and father Michael Kohlfeld.
In 2018, KDI purchased the brands rights for Miller Lite, High Life and Milwaukee's Best from Bluff City Beer Company.
